| Kizkaesi is a small seaside village on the Clician Coast of Turkey, west of Adana. What you see today is mostly of medieval, Byzantine and Armenian origin, but there hae been fortifications here since before the Hellic Period. Another castle, Corycus, sits in partnership on the beach and the two were once jopined by a causeway that protected the harbor. You can judge from the extent of the ruins in the area that the coast once supported a large population. Castles, Bascilicas, tombs and the remains of a Roman aquiduct system dot the surrounding hills and valleys. |
