R and R in Turkey...Tarsus life.
This is the area we live in. Tarsus is there between Adana and Icel (Mersin)
and on the edge of the Cukurova Delta.  Sited on the Tarsus River (Cydnus) and
at the entrance of the Cilician Gates, an important  pass into the  Anatolian
Plains of Turkey, Tarsus was an important  trading city for centuries. Traders
and goods passed through here bound for points East and North. St. Paul was
born here, Cleopatra sailed in here and met Marc Anthony. Alexander the Great
conquered Tarsus and nearly died here. The Prophet Daniel is buried here. It
was once a center of learning and commerce whose name and influence
stretched  from Efes to Palestine and beyond.
It takes about three hours to drive to Antioch and the Syrian border another half
hour. Seems really close.
